Yes, on the published rules. Confirmed The Game Awards says games must be commercially available by Friday, November 20, 2026 at 9 p.m. PT. Confirmed GTA 6 launches on November 19, so it clears that line by about a day.

Confirmed All cutoffs come from the show's own FAQ. That FAQ also says developers may give advance or pre-release access to games for critical evaluation.

The real question is time

Eligible doesn't mean easy. Rockstar North's co-studio head has described one playthrough of about 80 hours. With launch on November 19 and the show on December 10, voters have about three weeks at most, and less once voting closes. We haven't seen the voting deadline.

Reported Kotaku notes this year's cutoff is much later than last year's, and that critics could have review codes early. Rumour The review code timing rests on a leaker's report and Insider Gaming, not on Rockstar.
