Nobody has an official answer yet. Reported The closest thing is Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, telling The New York Times that one of his recent playthroughs took about 80 hours. That's one person's run and not a stated length.
What was actually said
As Vice reported in August, the playthrough covered the full campaign alongside some optional content that can affect the story. That gives three reasons to treat it carefully:
- It isn't story only. Some coverage has presented it as campaign length, and that goes further than what was reported.
- It's a developer's run. He knows the game, and also may have played it differently from you.
- It isn't a full clear. Doing everything would take longer.
We haven't been able to read The New York Times piece itself, so we're relying on Vice's account.
Why your time will differ
Rockstar's team has suggested the map rewards wandering. Reported Dexerto reports Rockstar's narrative lead saying the story can't take you everywhere. A player who sticks to main missions will finish sooner, and one exploring Leonida will take far longer.
Confirmed Rockstar also says the Ultimate Edition's extras are threaded across Jason and Lucia's story, uncovered chapter by chapter, so that edition may add time if you seek those out. The story being chapter-based doesn't tell us the total, because no chapter count has been announced.
