Two comments in two days set off a wave of "GTA 6 Online confirmed" and "GTA 6 PC teased" headlines. Neither is quite that. Here is the exact wording.
Twitch CEO: Multiplayer "Next Year"
Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg on September 17: "We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans. You are going to see this big bump with GTA VI, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer."
This is the most specific timing anyone has offered for GTA 6's online component, and Clancy has clearly spoken with Rockstar. But it is a partner's expectation relayed to a reporter, not a Rockstar announcement. Rockstar has not confirmed an online mode, a name or a date.
What Take-Two Has Said
Take-Two has consistently framed the November 19 launch as a single-player release and said the existing GTA Online will continue to be supported after GTA 6 arrives. Rockstar's no-microtransactions statement also applied explicitly to the single-player game at launch. A separate online product arriving later fits everything on record, but nothing on record confirms it.
Zelnick on PC, September 17
At Take-Two's annual shareholder meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick called PC "more and more important" and said the company launches on any platform "for which there's a meaningful audience." He was talking about Take-Two's business generally. He did not mention GTA 6, and a PC version still has not been announced.
A month later, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar is targeting the first quarter of 2027 for PC; see our breakdown of that report. All statements, with dates, are tracked on our GTA 6 PC release date page.
The Short Version
