Our advice
You already own one of these consoles: play it on what you have. All are supported, and you can make an upgrade decision later with real data.
You own both PS5 and Xbox: pick the one your friends use, or the one with more storage free. GTA Online cross-play for GTA 6 hasn't been announced, and neither has an online mode.
You own a Series S: plan your storage first. It's the one console where GTA 6 could fill most of the drive.
You're buying new for GTA 6: if you can wait, wait a few days. Reviews are reported for November 18, and technical comparisons usually follow launch quickly. That's a better basis for spending hundreds than today's rumours.
You're on PS4, Xbox One, Switch or PC: GTA 6 isn't announced for those at launch. Here's the full platform list.
